6 THINGS WE LEARNED FROM NEW NOLLYWOOD MOVIE : WIVES ON STRIKE

Most Nigerians are accustomed to watching Nollywood Movies without getting moral lessons from them but then, this New Movie Produced by Omoni Oboli has got loads of lessons for the viewers to benefit from. Here are major ones :

1      1.      Nigerians Believe in Nollywood Movies

When the New Nollywood movie “Wives on Strike” premiered on Friday 8th April 2016,Nollywood Gbagaun Your No 1 Nollywood blog sent people around to evaluate the turnout and it was quite impressive to know that the influx of people was large especially at Ozone Cinemas ,Yaba. This is not because Unilag was closed that day so students wanted a place to escape but because Nigerians  came out in their numbers  to support a movie industry that is growing rapidly.

2.     2.        Women are not mere housewives

Omoni Oboli’s “Wives on strike” powerfully illustrates the  Power of the women folk and the role they play in the society. They are not expected to sit back , wait to be spoon-fed by men , let the men run the show but contribute to the development of the society.  Vera isong (Chioma Akphota) was willing to go any limits to support the cause of the women despite how detrimental it could be to her husband’s  Political career.

3.       Politicians also know the right things to do

“If the right thing is the order of the day, then the world would be a better place to stay” was part of the lyrics for a song titled “do the right thing” sang by Bez and Cobhams Asuquo. To paraphrase , we could say, if our Nigerians politicians start doing the right things; then Nigeria would become a better country. There were opportunities in the movie to troll Nigerian Politicians, but yet the Final resolution of the major problem in Omoni Oboli’s movie “Wives on Strike” clearly interpretes that our Nigerian leaders know the right steps to take.

4.   4. Julius Agwu is a Natural Comedian

Comedy is not just a talent ,it is an art. Watching Julius Agwu in his “Callistus” role in the movie was an emboidment of intelligent humour and not script neither rehearsal. Really, Omoni Oboli got almost everything right with the cast of  this Comedy Movie but then Julius Agwu ‘s role illuminated the movie. It not shows clearly how versatile he is from Stand-up comedy to Singing and to Acting. We really want to see him act more movies of this genre.

5.      Husband and Wife can produce a Movie

This is definetely an evidence of love and bond. It is really a landmark that Nnamdi Oboli and his bae collabarate to produce a movie which will clearly set a pace for other movies of its kind. Nnamdi Oboli recently released an educational marital book called “Marriage: For Better For Worse Us” in celebration of their 15th Wedding Anniversary.

 6.     Emem Isong appeared on scene

It was awesome to see Emem isong on a scene even if its just one. The Royal Arts Academy C.e.o has clearly set a landmark in her movie production on Nigeria and her academy has gone to produce industry greats.
