Wives on Strike : 4 People we did not see on screen

Often times, people who work behind the scenes of movies are often neglected in the celebration of the success of most blockbuster movies. since its premiere at the cinemas on the 8th of April 2016, wives on strike has created a lot of buzz in Nigeria. we therefore want to identify those individuals who were secretly behind the success of this Comedy movie.

1.     Steve Sodiya

Giving Credits to Omoni Oboli for selecting an indigenous team for her Wives on Strike Movie, Who else if not him could have done the editing? That night at the Ozone Cinemas, I thought I was seeing a 3D movie. If you want to get the best Movie editing in Nigeria, Filmmakers know Uncle steve is the best person to talk to.  Steve Sodiya  was the first to handle  the tapeless technology seamless workflow and DCP (Digital Cinema Package) in Nigeria.

He yet showcased another masterpiece with almost perfect editing of Omoni Oboli’s Wives on strike Movie. Steve Sodiya has edited lots of Blockbuster Nollywood movies such as Kunle Afolayan’s The Figurine and Phone Swap, Tunde Kelani’s Maami, Wale Adenuga Production’s The Perfect Church; MTV Base’ television series Shuga and a documentary, Face of Change. Steve Sodiya is also one of the judges at the PEFTI Students Film Festival.

  2.       Micheal Ogunlade

Before the emergence of Micheal ogunlade, Sound design and film scoring remain a big challenge for filmmakers in Nigeria. He is seasoned composer, music producer and audio engineer, Michael ‘Truth’ Ogunlade, who leaves on all his works an irreplaceable musical impression with a distinct feel of classic Afro-centrism.

Truth, as he’s fondly called, is the secret behind the success of the theme song and scoring of  Omoni oboli’s Wives on Strike ,Kunle Afolayan’s Phone Swap and many other Nollywood blockbuster movies.
3.      Nnamdi Oboli
Omoni and Nnandi playing love birds

I still find this fascinating that a couple jointly produced a movie. Nnamdi Oboli who recently wrote a book on marriage and relationship got married to Omoni in the year 2000. He has been very supportive to Omoni Oboli’s Movie career and played a major role in her recent movie Wives on Strike as a co-producer with his loving wife.

4.        John Demps

JOHN DEMPS is a graduate of  Broadcast and Communications at Florida A & M University, He honed his craft at the American Film Institute through the Professional Cinematography Workshops.
Demps has photographed the feature films "Clubland," for director Mary Lambert, "The Walking Dead," "The Inkwell," directed by Matty Rich, "Fear of a Black Hat," directed by Rusty Cundliff, "What About Your Friends," "Streetwars" and "Penny."
