When we talk about Nollywood actors in Nigeria, its impossible
to neglect formidable names like Funke Akindele, Richard Mofe- Damijo,
Genevieve Nnaji lots of others but one name that is a must mentioned is Odunlade Adekola( Mr Sunday
Dagboru ).
Though Odunlade
Adekola focuses more on Indigenous Yoruba movies, he is an enigmatic
personality in the Nigerian Movie industry and its more than fair to say that
he has had an illustrious and successful career. To commemorate his success and
his prospects ,Nollywood Gbagaun put together ten important things every

1. His
name is Odunlade because he was born on 31 st of December 1978. In Yoruba land,
people born during Christmas, New year or other festivities have “Odun” meaning
“Celebration ” or “Year” in between their names.

Yoruba Movie actor was born in ancient ancient Abeokuta town, Ogun State where
he had his primary and Secondary School Education at Saint John Rcm primary
School and Saint Peter’s College respectively.

He
developed the interest in acting since his early ages as at 1996 when he always
requested for jester roles for he and his friend “Tunde” during anniversaries
at Christ Apostolic Church, Lafenwa, Abeokuta.

drew motivations from top Yoruba Movie actors like Taiwo Hassan (Ogogo), Salami
Adebayo(Oga Bello), Lere Paimo but he got training and additional motivations
from Isola Durojaiye ( Alasiri ) .

entered professional scene in Yoruba Movies in 2005 but he made his
breakthrough in 2007.

is married to Mrs Ruth Adekola and they are blessed with Four Children.

2015, he was signed as an ambassador to Nigerian Telecommunication Giant,
Globacom.

and his fans do not know about him. He showcased his talent during the Glo

has won the best actor at the City People entertainment Awards four different times
in 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2015 and also best actor at the African Academy Movie
Awards 2014.
10. In 2016, he has featured in Yoruba Movies like
Adajo Agba ,Ota, Osomo and still lots of projects yet to be released.
