FIFTY, the Box Office Smash Hit from EbonyLife Films, will this week close its remarkable 4-month cinema run in Nigeria.Since its 2015 December release in cinemas across the country, the Biyi Bandele directed feature has been doing big numbers at the box office and now, according to Ebony Life TV’s website, the movie has grossed over four hundred million naira from Box Office, Netflix streaming, In-flight Entertainment deals, Video-on-Demand (VOD) and other revenue streams.
According to the website;
In partnership with Film One Distribution, Fifty made nearly N100million through Box Office takings alone. Premiere sponsorships/Partnerships; Private screenings; a first-of-its-kind deal with Internet streaming provider, Netflix; In-flight entertainment deals and video-on-demand (VOD) are among the other revenue streams.
The success of FIFTY has spawned a television series of the same name. We can’t say for sure if the stars of the movie will reprise their roles in the TV series but we will find out soon enough. Season 1 of FIFTY: The TV Series is set for production in the last quarter of 2016.
