Is AMVCA Now a Nigerian Award ? Yvonne Nelson, Others Lament

Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) is an annual accolade presented by Multichoice recognizing outstanding achievement in television and film, voted on by the general public. The inaugural edition of  the AMVCA  launched in 2013  was held in Lagos and all other editions of the awards till the 2016  awards have been held in Lagos Nigeria.

While giving credit to Multichoice for Celebrating  African  Movie makers , actors, cinematographers, make-up artistes, Writers and others, it has since its inception in 2013 been a Nigerian  Movies Award.
In 2013, out of 25 categories about 12 categories of the awards were won by Nigerians. In 2014, 12 categories of the awards were won by Nigerians. In 2015, about 21 categories were won  by Nigerians. In 2016, 16  categories of the awards was won by Nigerians and till date the industry merit award category has always been won by Nigerians with Olu Jacobs, Pete Edochie, Amaka Igwe , Sadiq Daba and Bukky Ajayi winning the AMVCA awards in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 respectively.

No doubt, Nollywood has Championed the massive revolution in the African Movie industry with its World recognition following after Industry Heavy weights Hollywood and Bollywood but then its pertinent that the Organizers of AMVCA spread its wings across all other African Countries.
Popular Ghannian Actress, Yvonne nelson could not hide her displeasure at the outcome of the events at the AMVCA 2016  by going to her twitter page to voice out her grievances.

Only Yoruba Movies, igbo Movies, Hausa Movies, Swahili Movies  have their own special categories. We at Nollywood Gbagaun cannot  wait for the Next edition of the AMVCA awards and do hope all African Movie makers are given a level-playing Field .
